“Don’t worry. The pregame music is clean.”

That’s what they always say.

So the DOBO, or the GA or one of the Assistant Coaches has collected the requests from the players and submitted their pregame music list. And someone - SOMEONE - is supposed to make sure that the content of the songs is acceptable.

We all know what happens next.

Mr. and Mrs. Trustee hear something. Or maybe it’s Fussy Donor. Or maybe it’s a Dean or a Vice President. But someone swears they heard something.

And does the complaint go to the Marketing staff or Game Operations? Oh No. It normally goes straight to the President or, at a minimum, straight to the Athletics Director, who can’t believe that Marketing didn’t catch the ‘s’ word in hour number two of the four hour mix. And as the blame rolls downhill, and the DOBO/GA/Coach blames the team captain who blames the Freshman, it all feels so predictable.

“Don’t worry. The pregame music is clean.”
